SUZANNE Harris-Brandts, Partner |  HBAS, M.Arch, PhD, OAA, LEED AP BD+C

SUZANNE is a licensed architect (OAA), certified LEED AP BD+C, and co-founder of Collective Domain. She is also Assistant Professor of Architecture & Urbanism and Faculty Associate at the Institute of European, Russian & Eurasian Studies, Carleton University. Suzanne has worked at design-research practices across the globe, including in Toronto, Vancouver, London, the West Bank and Abu Dhabi. She received her PhD in Urban and Regional Studies from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and her Master of Architecture from the University of Waterloo. Her research brings together design and the social sciences to explore issues of power, equity, and collective identity in the built environment—foregrounding the geography of post-socialist Eurasia.

DAVID Gogishvili, Partner |  BA, MGeog, MUP, PhD

DAVID is co-founder of Collective Domain and SNF-Senior-Researcher at the University of Lausanne’s Institute of Geography and Sustainability’s Urban Studies Group. Previously, he was a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Urban Studies at Malmö University, Sweden. He received his doctoral degree in Urban Studies and Regional Science at Italy’s Gran Sasso Science Institute in 2017. He also holds Master’s Degrees in Human Geography (Tbilisi State University) and Urban and Regional Planning (Stockholm University). Outside academia, David has been involved in various NGOs and urban social movements working on open data initiatives, open source geographic information, and issues related to urban development across the South Caucasus. He is a founder of the Soviet Past Research Laboratory and Iare Pekhit (Walk), both based in Georgia.

DAVID Sichinava, Partner |  BA, MGeog, PhD

DAVID is co-founder of Collective Domain and adjunct research professor at Carleton University’s Institute of European, Russian and Eurasian Studies (EURUS) in Ottawa, Canada. David holds a PhD in Human Geography from Tbilisi State University where he also previously served as assistant professor in the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences. Prior to this, David was a part-time professor at the Black Sea University in Georgia and International School of Economics at Tbilisi State University (ISET). David’s research focuses on the social, spatial and temporal aspects of inequality, the politics of urban development, and the role of civil society in urban policy. David is also the past Research Director at the Caucasus Research Resource Centre (CRRC-Georgia) in Tbilisi, Georgia, and is currently Research Associate at the New York-based Langer Research Associates. He is also Associate Editor for UC Press’s journal Communist and Post-Communist Studies.

 
 

DAMIANO Aiello, Design-Researcher | PhD Candidate

DAMIANO is a licensed Italian building engineer and a Contract Instructor at Carleton University. He is a PhD candidate at the Azrieli School of Architecture and Urbanism, where he has been researching the intersection between heritage conservation and reparations. Damiano received his Master’s Degree in Building Engineering and Architecture from the University of Catania. He is actively involved with Carleton Immersive Media Studio (CIMS), where he contributes to projects focused on digital documentation and storytelling.
Before joining Carleton University, Damiano worked as an engineer in Italy and gained multiple research fellowships at the University of Catania and Politecnico di Milano.

MICHAEL Mandac, Design-Researcher |  M.Arch

MICHAEL is a design-researcher at Collective Domain, specializing in 3D modelling and visual representation. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture in the Philippines and a Bachelor of Environmental Design from the University of Manitoba. He is currently in his thesis year under the Master of Architecture Program at Carleton University’s Azrieli School of Architecture and Urbanism.

 

AMRA Alagic, Design-Researcher |  BAS - Urbanism

AMRA is a design-researcher at Collective Domain, specializing in mapping through geographic information systems and visual representation. She holds a Bachelor of Architectural Studies from Carleton University’s Azrieli School of Architecture & Urbanism, with a specialization in Urbanism. Amra is a 2023 recipient of the Hobin Prize in Architecture & City Building.
